Welcome

It is with great excitement that I launch the first Legacy High School Sabers blog. The blog will be updated on a regular basis as it will be one of the main sources of information on the happenings at LHS.

Since the last newsletter there has been great growth in the development of Saber country - LHS. We have hired more staffing as Nadine Butts, a counselor/interventionist from Wachter Middle School, will be joining the LHS staff starting this summer. Nadine brings a great deal of experience and knowledge when it comes to working with high schools students, while also having excellent ties to community resources. Last week we also added two more coaches to the Saber coaching staff. Jason Horner and Nick Walker will be heading up the boys and girls basketball programs respectively. Jason won a state title for Mandan High School and Nick has been a part of several state championship teams at Century High School as either a head coach or an assistant. I couldn't be more excited about these hires.

We are continuing to work with local vendors on getting Saber apparel on the shelves and hopefully attire will be arriving soon. I want to thank Simle/Legacy Athletic Director Paul Jundt for all the help he has given to this project. I will keep you posted when apparel becomes available.

Kim Hertz (FACS) and Kristine Montegomery (Social Studies) have been announced as our Co-Student Council Advisers. They are currently working on forming LHS Student Counci .  Students can start to become involved in Saber student council this spring and summer.

This past week; Band Director Mark Herold, Choral Director Mike Seil and I met with parents of the band program. We discussed when/where band will take place and what parents and students can expect of a high school music program. The meeting was very well attended. Many questions and concerns were able to be addressed.

The daily schedule continues to be a work in progress.  Thanks to the help of Mike Gilbertson and Dale Hoerauf progress is being made. I feel positive about where we are at this point in the school year with the schedule.  Conflicts that arise within the schedule will be resolved as soon as they arrive.

This past January a parent meeting was held at the Career Academy. At that time many parents signed up for parent boosters for athletics, fine arts, or parent advisory committee. Those names have been forwarded to the respectful coaches and fine arts directors. A list-serve is being created for the PAC (parent advisory committee).  If you signed up for the list-serve you will be receiving an email out soon about setting up some meetings dates. Please watch for those contacts in your email.
